To assist our customers, and help the national effort to tackle the COVID-19 crisis, Fleming Florist delivery drivers will make contactless deliveries and maintain social distancing. Which we hope will offer peace of mind and protection for everyone.

Our Drivers have been instructed to do the following when making flower deliveries:

1. Place the flowers in a suitably safe place.
2. Ring the doorbell to alert the recipient that the delivery has taken place and then stand back two metres from the door in case the recipient answers.
3. If the door is not opened post a calling card through the door to advise where the flowers have been left.
4. If the recipient chooses to open the door stay at least two metres away while communicating with the recipient, ensuring the delivery service is truly contact free.
5. Our drivers will not pass the driver’s scanner to the receiver to capture proof of delivery signature. Instead the driver will retain possession of the scanner and will request the name of the signatory which he/she will key into the name field. GPS co-ordinates are captured at the point where the delivery is made.

Wash Your Vase

Carefully wash your vase with hot water and a dash of bleach with a sponge. Allow the vase to dry naturally upside down rather than using a towel.

Prepare Your Stems

Cut the stems at an angle with a sharp scissors. This will help your stunning Summer Bouquet to take in more water.

Keep Flowers in a Cool Place

Place your summer flowers in an area that has a slight breeze to keep them nice and cool. Always make sure to keep the flowers out of direct sunlight but a little daylight is fine.

Change the Water Frequently

Replace the water every two to three days to ensure the summer bouquet’s freshness. This will also ensure your flowers still smell good, rather than being overpowered by old, smelly water.

What are the perfect flowers for April birthdays?

April is the month of two beautiful Spring flowers, the sweet pea and the daisy. Wonderfully paired together, bouquets of daisies and sweet peas are ideal for perfect flowers for April birthday gifts!

Daisies

In Latin, daisy literally means pretty and daisies are symbolic of many things. They can convey loyal love, innocence, purity, sympathy and cheerfulness.

There are five common types of daisies with petals ranging in colour from white to pink, around a bold yellow centre. They most commonly grow in yellow or white, but can be found in pinks, purples and reds.

Top Tip: Daisies should last approximately 5 to 7 days if properly cared for. Keep your flowers in a cool location, away from drafts and heat sources. To keep your daisies looking fresh, you should re-cut stems and add warm water and plant food to their vase every other day.

Sweet Peas

Sweet peas are known for their sweet fragrance. They have delicate thin petals, soft to the touch and come in shades of violet, fuchsia and pink. In the language of flowers, the sweet pea is symbolic of blissful pleasure, yet on the other hand they are also used to say good-bye.

Top Tip: Place your vase of flowers out of direct sunlight and away from drafts, and add water as necessary to keep the vase full. Occasional misting will keep your Sweet Pea flowers looking fresh.
